Queens Nails Annex - Marfa
October 5-7, 2007
For its second annual Open House Weekend exhibition, the Waypoint: Marfa is proud to present Queens Nails Annex: Marfa, a survey show of works from the legendary artist run gallery Queens Nails Annex in San Francisco. The gallery will be bifurcated into two exhibition spaces. The main space will feature a survey of two and three dimensional work, while the side space will function as a dark room for a compilation of recent videos from several artists.
In its three year history, Queens Nails Annex has proven to be one of the most provocative, energetic, and influential gallery spaces in San Francisco’s recent history. As curator Mike Bianco states “I imagine QNA must be a lot like what the Ferus Gallery was in L.A. in the late 1950s. It’s a beehive for artistic activity and innovation” Since it’s inception, QNA has run on a curatorial platform of exhibitions that engage the border between the sonic and the visual. Previous exhibitions have included such artists as: Keith Boadwee, Nate Boyce, Christoper Culver, John Dwyer, Jason Jagel, Jim Jocoy, Stella Lai, Isaac Lin, Juan Luna-Avin, Erlea Maneros, Eamon Ore Giron, Chika Sato, and many others.
